20 Minutes of Music

I have a routine before I start writing: 20 minutes of music. It's hard to carve this much time to just listening to music, but it really helps. It clears my head. It calms all the restless emotions flooding my soul. As I've done this over the past few years, I realize how important it is to stop and take time to allow my thoughts to wander aimlessly. "Doing nothing often leads to the very best kind of something," according to Winnie the Pooh. I'd have to agree. Wise words, indeed.

If you haven't tried it, I recommend it. It might just change your life. Find a good playlist of songs, or create your own. I've got mine: Paradise Songs and Soundtrack for Paradise.

Find a good pair of headphones or a set of speakers. Then do nothing and just listen.
